We are searching for an experienced Strategic Director to join an established organization supporting mission-critical programs across the US Defense and Intelligence Community.

This is a senior leadership opportunity for an individual with extensive experience within the Intelligence Community, ideally having spent 15-20+ years in progressive technical leadership positions as a federal government employee.

Unlike a traditional Business Development position, this role is not focused on sales targets or aggressive revenue growth. Instead, the emphasis is on strengthening existing government relationships, protecting established programs, developing recompete strategies and identifying selective opportunities for sustainable growth.

You'll work closely with executive leadership, technical teams and senior government stakeholders to shape long-term business strategy across highly classified intelligence and national security programs.

The position offers flexible working hours and an exceptional benefits package, with 100% onsite attendance required in Fairfax.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute long-term strategic growth plans aligned with existing Intelligence Community programs, customer priorities and technical capabilities.
  • Maintain and strengthen relationships with senior government customers, industry partners and key Intelligence Community stakeholders.
  • Lead strategic planning for major program recompetes, follow-on contracts and existing business retention.
  • Identify and evaluate selective new business opportunities across classified intelligence and national security programs.
  • Monitor government acquisition activity, customer requirements, RFIs, RFPs and emerging mission priorities.
  • Lead capture planning, proposal development and government engagement activities alongside technical and program leadership.
  • Assess competitive positioning, technical capabilities, teaming opportunities and potential business risks.
  • Coordinate with executive leadership, Program Managers and technical teams to ensure business strategies support operational and mission requirements.
  • Develop strategic partnerships with government contractors and industry organizations to strengthen existing and future programs.
  • Provide strategic recommendations to senior executives regarding program retention, customer relationships and long-term growth opportunities.

What We're Looking For

  • Active TS/SCI clearance with a current CI Polygraph.
  • 25+ years of progressive leadership experience supporting mission-critical Intelligence Community and/or Department of Defense programs, including at least 12 recent years within the IC.
  • Ideally 15-20+ years in progressive technical leadership positions as a federal government employee supporting Intelligence Community customers.
  • Bachelor's degree in a technical, engineering or closely related discipline.
  • Extensive technical and mission leadership experience within the Intelligence Community, ideally across SIGINT or related intelligence disciplines.
  • Strong understanding of Intelligence Community operations, mission requirements, customer priorities and government acquisition processes.
  • Demonstrated experience leading multidisciplinary technical teams, programs or mission-critical government initiatives.
  • Experience working with senior government stakeholders and building trusted, long-term professional relationships.
  • Knowledge of federal contracting, program recompetes, acquisition strategies and proposal development.
  • Excellent executive communication, strategic planning and relationship-management skills.

Desirable

  • Master's degree in a technical, engineering or related discipline.
  • Previous federal government leadership experience within the Intelligence Community.
  • Experience serving as a Contracting Officer's Technical Representative (COTR).
  • Previous Program Management experience within defense, intelligence or government environments.
  • Experience supporting strategic capture, business development or proposal activities within the defense industry.
  • Established relationships across relevant Intelligence Community organizations.
  • Previous experience transitioning from a senior government technical leadership position into the defense contracting industry.

Interested?

If you're an experienced Intelligence Community leader with a strong technical background, established government relationships and an active TS/SCI clearance with CI Polygraph, we'd be keen to hear from you.
